About Treehorn
I built Treehorn basically because I wanted it for myself. The news bummed me out and it was hard to find things I liked watching or listening to. I don't enjoy spending my time searching and hunting. If there was any good content, it was scattered across a dozen apps. Podcasts were often meandering and too long.
I wanted like a news agent to go out there and tell me what the hell was going on. But do it in a fun way; I don't want some host trying to enrage me. I would also like the agent to help me interpret what's happening.
AI offered some new possibilities. The models can research deeper and wider than any human journalist. They also have polymathic domain expertise and can explain complex ideas clearly. And because they are not human, they don't really put their baggage into the shows. They don't show off or make me feel excluded. And the voices sound great now. Don't get me wrong, I love humans, but I also like this product. That's about it.
The name Treehorn comes from Florence Parry Heide's 1971 children's book, The Shrinking of Treehorn.
