About Treehorn

We made Treehorn because staying informed is painful, and usually not very fun. News is endless, podcasts are too long, and feeds can feel overwhelming.

So we decided to give the robots a try.

These alien creatures are pretty smart. They have absorbed more books, documents, arguments, histories, transcripts, and human artifacts than any person could read in a lifetime. So we gave them two jobs: help us make sense of what is happening in the world, and help us learn from the long record of human civilization.

Each morning, Treehorn wakes up, surveys the world, and publishes a fresh lineup of short audio shows. Each show is written, voiced, edited, and given its own music and point of view.

These are not podcasts. The news shows are closer to classic broadcast reports: scripted, concise, and built to give you context without outrage, filler, or despair.

Treehorn also makes educational shows about history, science, technology, culture, and all kinds of interesting things. We keep them shortish and polished. These shows make learning genuinely entertaining and even thrilling at times.

Treehorn is independent: a micro audio network, a cultural learning machine, and an experiment in what a robotic newsroom can be.
